Sultry Mist 2026 - festival site & live visual installation

A festival website and live visual installation built for Sultry Mist 2026 in Goa using Hydra and VDO.ninja to stream a backstage feed to the crowd in real time.

The website

I built sultrymist.com for the 2026 edition of Sultry Mist festival in Aldona, Goa. It was a basic Astro website with lots of images. They wanted the colors to change and the background to have a moving dot effect, something "dance-y".

I built the background with a dot matrix pattern and an infinite looped animation using pure CSS and the color shift on interaction was made using @property and some JavaScript.

The installation

VDO.ninja handled the peer-to-peer video transport. A phone backstage acted as the camera source. On the display end, the stream was pulled into a browser via VDO.ninja's viewer URL. Since s0.initStream() is broken in Hydra for some reason I could not debug, I used s0.initScreen() and OBS Studio to create the display.

The output ran fullscreen on a display pointed at the audience, bridging the backstage energy with the crowd without any dedicated streaming infrastructure or paid tooling.

Here's a preview of how one of the scenes looked.
